Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your
actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they
become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your
destiny
Lao
Tzu
I
spoke with a friend of mine who likes to speak in the radio.
She
is very talented and eloquent.
I
asked how could she manage to be so assertive and poignant when
needed.
She
explained me how difficult is in the beginning to be a speaker or in
this case a radio interlocutor.
I
pondered her expertise and I applauded her character to say the right
words at the right time.
How
can you have this sea of words ready when you need them? I asked.
She
told me that everyday she likes to read good writings, blogs, books,
articles, etc. so she can have material in her brain.
She
explained me that human mind is very tricky. Why? Because your mind
acts like a big reservoir of thoughts and ideas. Everything you see or hear or interact, remain in your mind.
The
more you add to your mind, the more you have available when you need
to express yourself orally, written or in everyday actions.
So
this ideas will turn into words when needed, this can be conscious or
unconsciously.
Wow,
that explains a lot. By example that time when you were a little kid
and you said that phrase that caused you to be grounded for at least
a week. Huh? You remember, correct?
We are influenced by our thoughts specially when they become words. We might as well influence others.
If
good words, we'll be noticed nicely. If bad words, we won't be a
person, our friends would like to be around.
These
words will contribute in our actions.
Actions
that can give us pride or embarrassment.
Whenever
we repeat those actions in a timely basis, they would turn into good
or bad habits.
If
good habits, those will increment our growth intellectually, morally,
financially.
But
if bad habits, the outcome will be the opposite. A decrease in the
aspects mentioned before.
Also
those habits will influence in our personality that feeds our
character as a persona.
Now
we have the two blade sword.
When
our character is fed by good habits we sharpen a more positive
destiny for ourselves and our loved ones as well.
